Candle Care Guide
Our candles are designed as companions to your rituals—slow, steady, and deeply intentional. To honor both the fragrance and the vessel, we recommend these simple practices :
Before Each Lighting
-
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting. This ensures a clean, smoke-free flame and keeps your candle burning evenly.
-
We offer a FloodedWith Candle Care Kit (including trimmer and snuffer) for those who want to tend their candles with the same care as their rituals.
-
Always place your candle on a heat-safe surface. The vessel may become hot, especially as the wax nears the bottom.
The First Burn
-
On your very first light, allow the wax to melt across the entire surface—usually about 2+ hours. This helps your candle develop a full, even “memory burn.”
-
It’s normal for a little wax to cling to the sides of the vessel; it will usually catch up in later burns.
-
After that first burn, avoid lighting your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
-
Discontinue use when only ¼ inch of wax remains.
Our Wicks
-
Each FloodedWith candle is finished with a cotton wick chosen for its steady, even burn.
-
After each use, ensure the wick is centered while the wax is still soft.
-
You may notice a natural “mushroom” shape forming at the tip of the wick. This is intentional—it supports a balanced burn—but always trim before relighting to maintain flame health and consistency.
End of Life & Upcycle
-
When your candle has about ¼ inch of wax left, it’s time to say goodbye. Never burn beyond this point.
-
To clean your vessel: place it in the freezer until the remaining wax hardens, then gently pop it out. Wash and repurpose your vessel as a keepsake—many FloodedWith customers use them for flowers, pencils, or simply as a memory of the ritual it once held.
